Chiefs in South, North and Central Tongu districts in the Volta Region have urged contractors to speed up work on the Ho-Adidome roads.
The call was made when the deputy minister of Local Government and Rural Development Nii Lante Vanderpuije toured the district to create awareness on the upcoming national sanitation day to be held in the region.
Senior divisional chief of Bakpa traditional area Torgbui Kofi Tutu VI, expressed their grievances about Government's inability to complete the roads and pleaded that disciplinary action be taken against the contractors.
Torgbui said government must act fast to regain the confidence of the people in the region.
Nii Lantey Vanderpuiye, who toured some areas to inspect ongoing projects in the three districts, was highly impressed with the many projects near completion in the various assemblies.
Since he started his tour and assured residents of Government's commitment towards bringing massive development to the Volta Region. He also urged chiefs to mobilise their people, sub-chiefs and communities to come out in their numbers to participate in the monthly clean up exercise.
He said chiefs still have the influence over their subjects and communities and that their influence can help rid the nation of filth.
“We have also come to you because we believe that governance must impact positively on the lives of the people and so we are forming President Mahama’s vision of bringing governance to the doorsteps of the people."
He also interacted with the staff of the various district and municipal assemblies to know problems they face in delivering their duties and how best it can be solved.
