Members of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly have overwhelmingly endorsed Alfred Vanderpuije as the Mayor of Accra.
In a vote concluded Sunday evening, the re-nominated Chief Executive polled 107 out of 112 votes cast, despite recent calls by some of the assembly members for his removal.
The obviously elated mayor said his victory “is a victory for Accra”. He added that “Accra is on its way to development…”
Meanwhile Joy News’ Beatrice Adu who was at the AMA office reported the major as saying the Nima High street will be named after Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal of Saudi Arabia.
One of the millennium schools located at the Salvation compound in Laterbiokorshie in Accra, she said, would be named after President Barack Obama.
