The Akim Oda Magistrate Court in the Birim Municipality has sentenced Kwabena Obeng, a farmer, to 12 months prison term for whipping his relative, Madam Ama Owusuaa with a stick.
Obeng who pleaded guilty to two counts of assault, was also ordered by the court, presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor, to pay GH¢200.00 as compensation to Madam Owusuaa.
The court held that at about 1520 hours on May 30, Obeng, without provocation, subjected Madam Owusuaa to severe strokes at her buttocks with a stick, until she was whisked away by her co-tenants.
She reported the matter to the Police who issued a medical form to her.
On June 1, Oben,g who absconded after the assault, resurfaced and attacked the victim the second time, leading to his arrest.
