A final year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Rose Ohene Asante, has been remanded in police custody to re-appear before a Takoradi District Magistrate's Court for fraud.
Her plea was not taken and would re-appear in court on February 3.
Presenting the facts, Police Detective Inspector Nana Gyebi told the court that on November 6 last year, the suspect forged the letter heads of Saah and Company Limited and introduced herself as "receiver manager" of the company and in the process attempted to defraud Seaweld Engineering Services company and others in Takoradi.
The prosecutor said the complainant Mr Jacob Saah was alerted that fraudsters were using documents of the company to defraud people and therefore alerted the police.
She also introduced herself to some banks in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis and attempted to get them to transfer more than GH¢70,000 into a private account.
The prosecutor said the banks suspected foul play and alerted the police and when the suspect arrived to explain the transactions to the bank, she was arrested.
