The newly appointed Publicity Committee Chairman of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Mr Kosi Dedey, has disclosed that the party is revising its manifesto to be in tandem with the current realities and demands of time.
He said the party was already in close consultation with its functionaries, as well as the rank and file to enhance its manifesto, which focused on the Ghanaian as a centre of opportunity.
Mr Dedey, who replaced Mr Kwesi Pratt Jnr., was speaking to the Daily Graphic on Tuesday on his vision and mission for the party, soon after his appointment.
He spoke in the presence of the General Secretary of the party, Mr Ivor Kobina Greenstreet.
Mr Dedey said one priority area of the party was how it was going to use information communication technology (ICT) as a tool to galvanise action and support for national accelerated growth and development.
He said, "You can't provide figures on growth when you lack solid statistics, and this could be attained with a functional ICT."
He said that the party had already put in place workable and pragmatic programmes designed at changing the image of the party as a "party of old people and of irrelevant ideologies".
He said the party was currently focusing on how to offer Ghanaians diverse choices in terms of job creation, education, health, among others, to bring hope and prosperity on the doorstep of all.
He gave the assurance that with the support of the new leadership, the party's message would be better dissemmated to the extent that the electorate would better understand and appreciate the CPP as a mass party that had the best to offer the nation.
"The whole process is about winning votes, unless the electorate understands and shares with you, you can't win their votes," he stated.
Mr Dedey urged Ghanaians to pause a little and listen to the CPP, explaining that there was a politics of conviction and politics of convenience. "The CPP believes in the politics of conviction," he stated.
He also urged all the youth to return to their natural party, the CPP, because the CPP was historically a party for the youth.
Mr Dedey said the current crop of new leadership was working to restore that youthful exuberance again.
He said the CPP could win this year's election, but argued that since politics was not a physical science where there was an immediate formula for arriving at answers, the party needed to work extra hard in order to make a strong impact.
He said to enhance his work, he would engage in a broad consultation with the leadership of the party, and assured of his preparedness to tap the experiences of his predecessor, Mr Kwesi Pratt Jnr., to move the party forward.
He urged Mr Pratt to consider standing as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso Central, because he was a very good asset, and with his enthusiasm, dynamism and vibrancy, he was well-pOsitioned to win the seat for the CPP.
