The Convention People’s Party (CPP) is holding its biggest meeting since the 2012 elections to devise plans for the 2016 General Elections.
Party officers from across the country are expected to attend the meeting, where party members will deliberate on ways and means of giving the CPP a new face in preparation for the 2016 elction.
Deputy Director of Communications for the party, Ernesto Yeboah told Joy News, the gathering will provide an opportunity for party leaders and members to discuss issues that affected the party’s chances in the last election.
High on the table for discussion are issues of adopting new strategies in facing the 2016 election as well as the determination of the date for the elections of polling station executives of the party.
Other issues likely to be discussed include the determination of the date for congress that will elect new national executives and flagbearer for the party.
Additionally, the director of Communication noted that members of the party will also be allowed to come up with other issues for further deliberation and discussion.
CPP Chair, Samia Nkrumah is also expected to brief the conference on the status of the party’s computerisation programme.
"Tomorrow, she will be rendering account to the second largest decision making body of the party, National Executive Council (NEC), and be telling them exactly what will be needed to complete the process", Mr. Yeboah intimated.
He further noted, "we want to elevate ourselves into the 21st century. We cannot continue with our old ways of doing things".
According to Mr. Yeboah, the CPP needs to function in a modernized manner, a vision, which he said fitted into the chairman's five-points agenda, which saw her elected as chairman of the party.
