Opanin Adusei Peasah, Organizing Secretary of the Canada branch of the Convention People's Party (CPP), has challenged party supporters not to be swayed by monetary considerations and flirt with other political parties.
He indicated that the CPP was the only political party that could save Ghanaians from their hardships and urged the supporters to stand solidly behind it to enable the party win the 2012 general elections.
Opanin Peasah, who was interacting with supporters and executive members of the party from the Eastern Region in Koforidua at the weekend, expressed his happiness of seeing many young people joining the party.
He said the older generation in the party were determined to see the CPP stand on its feet but not that they were interested in holding top positions.
Opanin Peasah indicated that but for the good policies introduced by the CPP government, many people would not have gotten access to education.
Professor Kwame Botwe-Asamoah, an executive member of the USA branch of the CPP, expressed worry about the importation of some goods that could easily be produced in Ghana, saying a CPP government would address that problem.
He said a CPP government would establish more factories to be able to provide jobs for the teeming unemployed youth. He indicated that a CPP government would unite all Ghanaians to do away with the present tribal sentiments in the country.
Dr S.O. Asante, Chairman of the USA branch of the CPP, urged supporters to wake up and save the country from collapsing, adding "53 years after independence, Ghana is still grouping in the wilderness".
He said both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) were the same and that they supervised the collapse of schools and industries. He advised Ghanaians to reject both parties come 2012.
Dr Asante said both parties allowed majority of Ghanaians to slip into poverty while a privileged few were swimming in wealth.
He charged CPP supporters not to be confused that the NDC was for CPP saying; "NDC is not CPP, do not confuse us, CPP is CPP and it stands for the poor majority".
Dr Asante urged CPP supporters not to feel ashamed to be associated with the party and go out to organize at the grassroots to enable the party to win the 2012 elections hands down.
He hinted that very soon the CPP and the People's National Convention (PNC), would come together to contest the 2012 elections as a united front.Source: GNA
