The Director of Communication for the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nii Armah Akomfrah says “barring any unforeseen circumstances, the CPP will go to congress to elect our flag bearer in a fortnight”.
In an exclusive interview with Joy News TV, the CPP’s Director of Communication said the scheduled date for the party’s congress clashes with the ongoing biometric registration exercise being undertaken by the Electoral Commission hence the postponement.
Asked if the defection of the party’s 2008 flag bearer, Dr. Nduom contributed to the delayed congress, Mr. Akomfrah said “Paa Kwesi Nduom did not fund our congress when he was with the CPP, so why should that be the reason? Absolutely not. We will hold the congress when the time is right and that will be soon”.
Nii Akomfrah said the party executive will be meeting the Electoral Commission soon over the congress to ensure that it is successful.
