The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Alhassan is optimistic crime will be reduced across the country next year.

This is because measures  put in place this year to reduce crime have been successful Mr. Alhassan told Joy News' Hannah Odame.

The IGP made the comment after visiting some police personnel on admission at the police hospital.

"Policing is dynamic and we developed measures with respect to challenges we face as we go along.

"Our objective is to achieve perfection although nobody can achieve that.

He said the crime threats and trends would inform the administration what measures to put in place.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Alhassan is challenging Civil Society Groups to take the lead in creating the framework for the establishment of an independent police complaints commission.

The IGP proposed the establishment of the commission early this year.

Some Civil Society groups had accused the police of failing to commit to the establishment of the commission after the initial announcement.

The police have been absent from several meetings called to work on fine tuning the proposal.

But the IGP said it is not the police’s job to create the commission.

He said the police have made the proposal but have no mandate to create the Commission.

He challenged Civil Society organisations to take the lead.
