The Catholic Bishop of Sunyani, the Most Reverend Matthew Kwesi Gyamfi, has blamed the crisis in The Church on "the sins in the church".
He said "the crisis is not caused by the sins of outsiders but by the sins in the church. We should have the courage to discourage ourselves and our brother priests of attitudes and behaviours that are unpriestly".
Most Rev. Gyamfi said this when he addressed his fellow bishops and priests who had gathered in Sunyani to observe the national celebration of the year of priests.
Pope Benedict XVI has declared this year as the Year for the Priest with the theme, 'Rediscovering the blessings of priestly fraternity'.
Bishop Gyamfi urged priests to position themselves beyond reproach, saying "we need also to encourage and strengthen one another at all times."
"Undoubtedly, we have all come to accept, though in a painful way, what we have always known, namely, that success or downfall of a brother priest, no matter who he is or where he is, directly affect us and the people we minister to".
He advised the priests to love one another and ensure that their conducts are honourable in the eyes of all.
