The Regent of the Great Dagbon Kingdom and the Acting President of the Dagbon Traditional Council has expressed sympathy and condolence to the bereaved family of the late Dr Choggu David Abdulai.
Kampakuya-Na Andani Yakubu Abdulai said the people of Dagbon are mourning with the family and workers of the Shekinah Clinic in their difficult period of grief.
In a statement released Monday, a day after the passing of the late philanthropic doctor, the regent said news of the passing was "received with much pain, shock and grief in the Dagbon Kingdom. His untimely death is a great loss to his family, Dagbon, Northern Region and Ghana as a whole."
"He lived a full and fulfilled life worthy of celebrating and we are grateful to Almighty God for the gift of his life and contributions to humanity as a philanthropist who devoted his entire life and everything to provide medical care and food for the sick, mentally ill and poor persons. He gave them hope to continue living," the statement said.
The family of medical philanthropist, Dr Choggu David Abdulai, has confirmed his death to Joy News, Monday.
A family member said he passed on Sunday evening at about 7 p.m. at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) where he was receiving medical attention.
Dr David Abdulai who was battling stage-4 thyroid cancer was in May this year reported needing urgent financial assistance to take care of his medical expenses as his condition was fast deteriorating.
On the orders of President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, he was airlifted to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
He called on the chiefs, elders, citizens of Dagbon and Ghanaians to join the family to celebrate the life and good works of Dr David Abdulai who has secured a place in history as a great humanitarian and philanthropist of his time.
"I pray for the entire family, widow and children to have the strength to endure the pain of losing a very great, special and loved person as Dr David Abdulai," he said.
