The opposition New Patriotic Party Director of Campaign Strategy and MP for Okere Constituency Dan Botwe has dared the editor of the new punch newspaper, Ebenezer Ato Sam, popularly known as Baby Ansaba to disclose who in the NPP asked him to publish fabricated stories about president Mills in the lead up to the December 2008 elections.
Baby Ansaba in recent interviews with sections of the media said he was denouncing his unethical past and turning over a new leaf as far as the practice of professional journalism is concerned.
Taking a swipe at former president Kufuor, Baby Ansaba said he was grateful to President Mills for giving him the opportunity to travel with him on an official trip to Trinidad and Tobago.
He said President Kufuor never gave him such an opportunity in his eight years in power, despite all the favours he did for the then Government.
Baby Ansaba added that he regrets using his paper to publish lies about president Mills when he was a candidate for the NDC.
A lot of outrage has greeted Baby Ansaba’s confessions with some describing him as a may weather friend and a stomach journalist.
Some senior journalists have called for his dismissal from the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) and also be dragged before the National Media Commission.
Mr Dan Botwe, in an interview with Citi News said Baby Ansaba was never considered in the 2008 campaign strategy of the NPP and dared him to mention names of the members in the party who engaged him in unethical activities, especially in the heat of the 2008 elections.
“Baby Ansaba was never a factor in our work, never…I am challenging him to come out, I am daring him if there is anybody in the NPP who contracted him to do such a work…is he saying that he published the work because an NPP person asked him to, at his age and as a father if someone asked him to publish something that is not true he should come out and prove it”. Dan Botwe said.
