The Donkorkrom Police have arrested 6 people for allegedly attempting to lynch the District Chief Executives for Afram Plains, Solomon Yaw Fordjour.
The suspects who were part of an angry mob vandalized his official Ford vehicle when they felt the DCE had hijacked the ferry that is being used by residents in the area.
He was however rescued without injuries by some NPP constituency executives who were part of his entourage.
In an interview with Joy News, Mr. Fordjour said there was no fuel in his district during the later part of the previous week (last Thursday and Friday).
To save the situation he syphoned some fuel from his generator and gave to the captain of the ferry to run it across the Volta River.
The DCE explained that he asked the captain to wait a while for him to return from Ntoaboama, one of the villages in the area, where he had gone to discuss some challenges facing the area.
Mr. Fodjour said a group of residents who were returning from Accra got angry when the captain of the ferry refused to use some fuel they had provided to run the ferry, on the basis that the captain was waiting for the DCE before taking off.
The group who did not take kindly to this allegedly pounced on the DCE and vandalized his official Ford vehicle.
ASP Akulatse of the Afram Plains District Police confirmed the incident and said 6 people had so far been arrested, while other suspects were being sought.
