The Deputy Minister for Culture, Tourism and Creative Arts, Dzifa Abla Gomashie has taken a swipe at controversial Ghanaian actress Nikki Samonas for revealing that she exposes her boobs to be in the news.
The actress has received a lot of flak after she disclosed that her reason for showing her boobs at the recently held 4Syte Music Video Awards was to give Ghanaians something to talk about.
Nikki Samonas, who wore a dress that showed her boobs, said in interview on Peace FM that, “you should do something to always feel relevant in the industry and that is what I did,” adding she has been quiet in the industry for long and she needed to do something for Ghanaians to talk about her.
In a strongly worded reaction on Facebook, the Deputy Minister condemned the actress and said her actions and aim were out of ignorance.
Madam Gomashie said: “Don't, out of ignorance, paint everyone in show business as you would Rihanna, who by the way, I am not a fan of. If you think because you are in show business you have a license to walk around with your boobs popping out off your dress and short enough not to make us curious, that is your understanding.”
“It is not the case that because you are in show business you can wear anything without considering the cultural setting. Yes by all means express yourself in thought and in deed. But, do not forget your freedom and rights are not created in a vacuum,” the Deputy advised the actress.

DEFINITION OF SHOW BUSINESS?
I grew up learning under the feet of Efua T. Sutherland, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, Grace Omaboe and Joyce Agyapong among others. My contemporaries are Gloria Ofori, Lys Hayfron Asare, Naana Dansoa, Kwame Sefa kayi, Edinam Atatsi and Mawuli Semevo.
Internationally Phylicia Rashad (Claire Hustible), Oprah Winfrey, Miriam Makeba, Angelique Kidjo, Anima Misa and many others were already in show business.
There was also Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Naomi Campbell and Madonna.
I have been in Show business for nearly 30 years. Most of the people listed here were also in show business.
You can tell who had grooming and cared about their image and what they stood for. There are also some who were "Edgier" than most.
Don't, out of ignorance, paint everyone In show business as you would Rihanna, who by the way, I am not a fan of. If you think because you are in show business you have a license to walk around with your boobs popping out of your dress and short enough not to make us curious, that is your understanding.
It is not the case that because you are in show business you can wear anything without considering the cultural setting.
Yes by all means express yourself in thought and in deed. But, do not forget your freedom and rights are not created in a vacuum.
..and by the way, how do you expect us to know when you are acting and when you are not acting, when every space for you is a stage.
