President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians of his government’s unwavering commitment to resolving the energy crisis and preventing a return to the era of "dumsor" (frequent power outages).
Speaking at the National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana on Thursday, January 9, President Mahama acknowledged the critical challenges facing the country, particularly in the energy sector.
He assured citizens that his administration is fully committed to addressing these issues head-on.
“We are assuming office at a critical time in our nation's history. Ghana is faced with significant challenges. But that is exactly the reason why you elected us.
"We will transparently let you understand what those challenges are and we will take responsibility for solving them,” he stated.
The President highlighted the looming threat of power outages due to insufficient fuel supplies for power generation.

However, he urged Ghanaians to remain hopeful and confident in his government’s ability to find sustainable solutions.
“There is a threat of power outages but my brothers and sisters, don't despair. You elected us to solve the problems not to put the blame on anybody else,” President Mahama said.
He revealed that on Wednesday, January 8, he convened a stakeholders’ meeting to brainstorm and implement innovative strategies to stabilise the energy supply.
“I can assure you of some of the ideas they have come up with. We will make sure that your lights stay on and that we do not have dumsor,” he stated.
President Mahama stated that the challenges in the energy sector require urgent and collaborative efforts, and his administration is prepared to lead the way in overcoming them.
