Newly employed medical officers at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital who are expected to replace their junior colleagues who were dismissed on Monday are set to reject the job in solidarity with their juniors.
Joy News has learnt that the senior house officers met late Monday night with their juniors and agreed not to accept the job until the Korle Bu authorities re-employed the 98 doctors they have dismissed.
The medical officers are expected to start work on Wednesday to fill the vacuum created by the sacked junior doctors. But there are indications they would not be at work because they are also demanding that they are given appointment letters spelling out their conditions of service which should include accommodation.
Authorities at the Hospital on Monday handed over dismissal letters to the house officers for withdrawing their services barely two weeks into their housemanship over service conditions.
The medical officers say their employers did not spell out their conditions of service in the appointment letters given them. But even before they decide to accept the appointment, the Chief Executive of the hospital, Professor Kwame Frimpong-Boateng issued them dismissal letters instead.
