The Council of the Ghana Institute of Engineers has conferred on Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee, CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, the Class of Honourary Fellow at the Institute’s 41st Presidential Inauguration and Gala Banquet held in Accra on March 27, 2010.
The Class of Honourary Fellow is reserved for persons, who in the judgment of the Institute’s Council, are connected to the application of engineering science and have rendered important service to engineering in any of the fields of science, production, management, commerce, finance and law.
According to the Institute, Dr. Joyce R. Aryee’s tremendous contributions to the Ghanaian mining industry through her exemplary leadership at the Chamber of Mines, and her contributions to the education and training of engineers for the mining industry spurred them to honour her.
Dr Aryee is the first female amongst four to be bestowed the Class of Honourary Fellow by the Ghana Institute of Engineers sine the inception of the Institute in 1958 Dr. Aryee received an honourary certificate and citation from the Institute.
Dr. Joyce Aryee, on behalf of the recipients, expressed profound gratitude to God and to the Institution of Engineers for the honour bestowed on them and assured the Institute of their continued service.
In a related development, Dr. Aryee was also voted the Female African Business Leader of the year 2009, by the African Leadership Magazine for her empowerment of the rural women and for contributing to the advancement of the mining industry in Ghana.
