A 40-year-old driver has been sentenced to 36 months imprisonment in hard labour by a Kumasi Circuit Court for stealing an iron plate ventilation cover valued at GH¢ 50.00.
Jesus Amoako pleaded guilty.
He would be back to the same court on February 7 to answer another charge of unlawful entry.
Police Chief Inspector Archibald Kwesi Fandoh told the court presided over by Mr Justice Emmanuel Amoh-Yartey that Amidu Ibrahim is a security man working with the Ghana Cocoa Marketing Company and at Asokwa.
On January 15 Ibrahim, while on duty, heard an unusual noise coming from the direction of one of the company's sheds.
He said when he rushed there to find out what was happening he saw Amoako with the iron plate.
He attempted fleeing but Ibrahim with the help of another security man arrested and handed him over to the Asokwa police.
The prosecution said the convict admitted the crime in his caution statement and said he was going to use it for a coal pot.
