Kwaku Obeng, a driver, who threatened to kill his father-in-law and also end his life, has appeared before an Akim Oda Magistrate Court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor.
He pleaded not guilty to threat of death and was initially remanded in police custody to reappear in May, 2011.
However, on the adjourned date, a family elder, Nana Obiri-Yeboah prayed the court, to withdraw the case for settlement at home, which the court obliged and therefore, admitted the accused to GH¢3,000 bail with one surety.
Nana Obiri-Yeboah and Obeng would return to court on May 12 to brief it (court) on the proceedings of the settlement.
Police Chief Inspector Adelaide Appiakorang earlier told the court that on April 18 this year, Obeng’s wife left one of their children in the care of her parents and went to trade at a nearby village.
She said the accused having known that his child was left to his in-laws’ care, started attacking them with insults and also threatened to kill his father-in-law, Mr Stephen Nketia, after which he would kill himself.
According to Inspector Appiakorang, Mr Nketia made a report to the police and Obeng was later arrested.
