The difficulties faced by education directors and school authorities in ensuring effective and efficient supervision and monitoring of the activities of teachers in the Upper West Regional have now been addressed with the provision of 11 vehicles by the government to enhance quality education delivery. The vehicles made up of Nissan and Toyota pick-ups have been distributed to the seven district directors while three Nissan patrols went to the Regional Director of Education and the principals of the two training colleges in the Region. Mr Cletus Paaga, Upper West Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), showed the vehicles to the Deputy Regional Minister, Mrs Asibi Winifred Dy-Yakah on Thursday in appreciation of the government's efforts to provide them with vehicles to enhance education development in the Region. Mrs Dy-Yakah said the vehicle had arrived timely with the implementation of the education reforms and that there would be no excuse from the authorities if they failed to effectively monitor the operations of teachers in the districts. She bemoaned the poor Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results in the Region this year and urged the authorities to view it as a worry and to step their supervisory and monitoring roles to promote excellent education. "Let each of you sit down and examine critically the results of the BECE and bring new innovations to help address the poor performance of students in the BECE next year", she said.
