The people of Ekumfi Suprodu, a farming community in the newly created Ekumfi District of the Central Region have asked Government to as a matter of urgency construct a bridge over River Okyi to facilitate their movement to adjoining communities.
They say failure by the National Democratic Congress (NDC)- led government to construct the bridge will cost the party in the 2016 general elections.
The bridge, when constructed, will link communities such as Emisano, Asaafa, Edumafa, Narkwa, Asokwa and Abaka to enable farmers to transport their farm produce to Mankessim -- a major town in the Central Region.
The Okyi river, according to the residents, also poses a great danger to the locals.
They say five persons have drowned in it in the past few years.
The absence of the bridge, according to the people of Ekumfi Suprodu, affects school children the most, especially when it overflows.

During a visit to the town by former MP for the area, George Kuntu-Blankson, Mr. Thomas Yawson -- Secretary for the elders of the town -- put the concerns before the former MP.
Mr. Yawson said the elders have run out of patience since several promises made by government have not been fulfilled.
Though the former MP was not there as a government official he was able to calm the nerves of the angry elders.
Mr. Kuntu-Blankson said the documentation of the project started when he was the MP for the area and would therefore continue to dialogue with President John Mahama to make sure that the bridge gets done by end of 2015.
Mr. Kuntu Blankson further added that he was committed to improving the lives of people through provision of basic amenities.
The former MP donated an undisclosed amount to the people of Ekumfi Suprodu for the replacement of bulbs for some malfunctioning street lights.
The assemblyman of the area, Joseph Morrison, praised Mr Kuntu Blankson for the donation and the visit.
