The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has issued a strong warning to the public against any form of electoral misconduct as the December elections draw near.
He stressed that those caught engaging in unlawful activities will face the full consequences of the law.
Addressing the public at the commissioning of a new police station in Akyem-Manso, located in the Eastern Region, Dr. Dampare assured citizens that the police are fully prepared to ensure a peaceful election period.
He highlighted the measures in place to identify and respond to early signs of potential disturbances.
"Do not be tempted to cause trouble during the elections, because my officers will not hesitate to act," he cautioned.
"Remember, those who may encourage you to stir up confusion will disappear and abandon you once you are arrested—they will simply turn off their phones."
The IGP appealed to voters to exercise their democratic rights calmly and respectfully, urging everyone to respect the electoral process and the rights of others.
He reiterated the importance of conducting elections without violence or interference.
Dr. Dampare assured the public that the police are committed to maintaining law and order throughout the electoral period, ensuring a safe environment for free and fair elections.
"We are fully prepared, and I can confidently say that the elections will be peaceful," he affirmed, urging all Ghanaians to contribute to preserving the integrity of the democratic process.
