The opposition National Democratic Congress would have won 16 out of the total 26 parliamentary seats in the Northern Region if elections were held in July, suggests an opinion poll.
The poll conducted by Pollster and Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, Ben Ephson, also predicts three safe seats for the ruling NPP with the remaining seven seats being too close to call.
On Thursday’s edition of the Ephson's Elections File on Joy Fm, Ben Ephson indicated four of those seven seats were likely to swing in favour of the NPP.
The safe seats for the NDC included Bole Bamboi, Karaga, Kpandai, Kumbumgu, Nantong, Tamale Central, and Tamale South and North.
The others are Sabzugu Tatale, Bimbilla, Savelugu, Tolon, Yarpei Kusegu, Bimbilla, Sawla Kalba and Yagaba Kubori.
Saboba, Salaga and Yendi are well within the reach of the NPP.
The poll had a margin of error of 2.5, but with the nominations of Hon. John Mahama and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumiah, the two vice presidential candidates of the NDC and NPP respectively, anything is likely to happen 38 days to the December polls.
A final poll will is expected ahead of the elections.
