Former Presidents John Rawlings and John Kufuor have called for a well coordinated effort to support the victims of the flood and fire disaster.
Speaking at a memorial service to remember the 152 lives lost, the two former Presidents decried the accident and also urged for support for families of the victims.
Hundreds more are currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the Ridge Hospital one week later.
“We are with them and we pray it doesn’t happen to anybody again, ever”, said President Kufuor.
Former President Rawlings also urged the families of the victims to be strong even though the tragedy that has befallen them is a difficult one.
“We will all donate as generously as we possibly can in order to alleviate some of the difficulties they will no doubt be going through. It is a painful thing but let’s become a little more responsible in future”, he said.
The National Memorial Service on Wednesday June 10 climaxed three days of mourning for the victims last week.
