As news of the death of ace BBC journalist and former host of Joy FM's Super Morning Show, Komla Dumor hit the world with shock, Saturday, Chief Executive of Stratcom Africa and family spokesperson, Esther Cobbah said the family is still awaiting report on the cause of death from the hospital.
“Family is waiting for the report from the hospital where he was taken to in an ambulance from his home in London”, Esther Cobbah told JoyNews’ George Wiafe.
According to the family spokesperson, the death of Komla was communicated by his family from London that Komla had been taken to the hospital in an ambulance and had eventually died.
“Naturally, the family is in shock, devastated and deeply saddened as the whole world is”, the spokesperson intimated, especially when the ace journalist was on BBC, Friday evening.
Furthermore, Esther Cobbah noted that the father spoke with him the day before his death and there was no sign of ill-health.
“The family is lost for words. All the family can say at this time is; they are grateful for the outpouring of love, compassion and sympathy that is flowing from everywhere in Ghana and all over the world”, she indicated.
Looking at the show of sympathy from people both nationally and internationally the family spokesperson noted that it shows that Komla was a very special person and his life had greatly impacted the world.
As the family grieve over the death of Komla, they “request the public to understand this and bear with them [family] at this time of deep, grieve, shock and sorrow.
“Naturally, we have to be respectful of people’s loss. This is a time of shock, grieving and we as a people in Ghana, traditionally, respect these kinds of situations”.
The spokesperson also said the family is in consultations and will inform the general public of the arrangements made for his funeral in due course.
The presenter of the Focus on Africa programme on BBC died, Saturday morning in London.
