The Mankranso magistrates' court has granted a 40-year-old farmer at Agyeikrom near Manfo in the Ahafo-Ano North District of Ashanti GH¢1000 (10 million cedis) bail for stealing a basket full of corn worth GH¢5 (50,000 cedis).
Nana Yaw Asubonteng, pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on September 18.
Police Chief Inspector Prosper Yao Aheto told the court presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie that on August 21, this year, Asubonteng entered the farm of John Kwasi Agyei, the complainant and harvested the maize.
He said one Kwakye saw the accused in the act informed the complainant who in turn reported the case to the Tepa police.
Chief Inspector Aheto said Asubonteng was arrested and after investigation charged with the offence.
