We received with heartfelt regret, the news of the death of H. E. President John Evans Atta Mills. This sad and shocking event occurred on Tuesday, July 24, 2012.
The Forum for Governance and Justice (FGJ) remembers his maiden State of the Nation address, where he emphasized teamwork and consensus building in the process of rebuilding our nation. Our late President has forever transformed our nation in several ways, but especially in the growth of our democratic culture.
As we mourn our late President; the man of peace, the humble, the tolerant, and the respectful man who always placed his people and his nation first, we can only call on the good people of Ghana to join us in honoring him by actualizing the good qualities he has bequeathed to us.
We the members of the FGJ consider the achievements of this noble son of Ghana, of Africa and of humanity, as a great legacy, which is worthy of honour.
Even as we mourn our late President, we wish our new President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama well as he takes over the leadership of our nation. We have no doubt that he has the needed qualities and personal attributes to continue the good works of his predecessor. We believe that the people of Ghana will rally behind President John Dramani Mahama in this difficult time in the history of our nation.
Again, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of our late President. Yes, Ghana has suffered an unprecedented loss.
Signed
Dr. Clement A. Apaak
