Fidelity Bank has awarded a one year scholarship to Christiana Akosua Acheampomaa and Ernest Ayimadu first year students of the University of Cape Coast and the University of Professional Studies respectively.
The scholarships were won during promotional draws held by the Bank as part of the Bank’s welcome package for first year students who opened student accounts with the bank.
According to the Director of Personal Banking, Esi Mills Robertson, the decision by the Bank to offer students of the university of Cape Coast an exciting account opening package forms parts of the Bank’s effort to inculcate in students and by extension Ghanaians the habit of saving and also prudent finance management.
“We believe in giving them a good start now that they are in school so that by the time they complete their education, they would be well versed in financial management. Aside operating accounts, we will also give them financial advice and organize seminars for them in that regard.” He added.
In addition, head of products and strategy, Personal Banking, Woelinam Yao Dogbe, explained that the gesture by Fidelity Bank is a demonstration of the Bank’s resolve to support education in the country, which is one of its key arms of corporate social responsibility and will be extended to other university campuses.
One of the winners of the scholarship package, Christiana Akosua Acheampomaa was full of praise for Fidelity Bank for giving her this lifetime opportunity.
“I am so excited to be the winner of this scholarship package; this scholarship will greatly help my academic pursuit. I opened the student account last 3 days and I was nominated for the scholarship package. I didn’t believe I was going to win but now I know it is real, Thank God and thank you Fidelity Bank, you are so real,” she stated.
Two other students won an investment account with seed money of GHS 1, 000 each.
22 other students won Fidelity branded souvenirs.
