The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has scheduled the parliamentary primaries of Ketu South in the Volta Region for Saturday 26th May 2012 at Denu, the constituency capital. The NDC primaries in the Ketu South Constituency were put on hold in anticipation of a split of the Constituency into two separate ones.
The Electoral Commission was enable to do so hence the need for the party to proceed to conduct the parliamentary primaries there.
At the close of nominations, seven individual members of the NDC filed their applications to contest the primaries; namely Hon Albert Zigah, the current MP; Fiifi Kwetey, a Deputy Minister for Finance and Economic Planning; Mr Raphael Alorwu, a National Service District Director; Mrs Elizabeth Kuenyefu, an Educationist and a gender activist; Mr Nicholas Woclachie, a lecturer and PhD student of the Open University of Malaysia; Mr Frederick Alipui, an Economic Consultant with considerable international experience and Mr Nyphson Agbagedy, a former NDC parliamentary aspirant for 2004 Elections.
A branch audit of the constituency delegates list was conducted on Wednesday 9th May 2012, in Denu by a regional team of the NDC led by Regional Secretary, Simon Amegashie-Viglo and the constituency executive committee, to ascertain the authenticity of the list of delegates to the Constituency Conference. On Friday 11th May 2012, there was vetting of all the seven aspirants in Denu to determine whether they were qualified to contest the 2012 parliamentary elections on behalf of the NDC. The constituency vetting was done by the Ketu South constituency executives chaired by its chairman Mr Marshall Ackumey.
