Fire gutted a power transformer at Zenu Masalachi, a suburb of the Kpone-Katamanso District in the Greater Accra region on Sunday June 23, 2013.
The cause was attributed to a power overload on the transformer.
RadioXYZonline reported that the transformer has been greatly damaged and needed to be changed.
It said fire officers and officials from the Electricity Company of Ghana rushed to the scene to attend to the situation.
Meanwhile, officials suspect the blaze was started by a power surge.
This is the umpteenth fire disaster to hit the country within the past few months.
Markets in major capital cities have borne the harshest brunt of most of the fire outbreaks.
A team of experts from the US is currently in Ghana assisting with investigations into the numerous fires.
The Government announced a few days ago that some suspected arsonists have been arrested in connection with the fires and are being screened.
The arrests followed the placement of a Ghc25,000 bounty on the heads of the suspects.
