A five-member Interim Management Committee has been elected to steer the affairs of the Eastern Region Football Association (ERFA).
The five-member IMC will run the administration of the game for the next three months beginning today.
This follows elections in Koforidua on Thursday during a stakeholders meeting of the Eastern Region Football Association after the mandate of the past executives came to an end on Wednesday, 9th May, 2012.
It was agreed at the meeting that stakeholders nominate members onto the IMC and seventeen individuals were put forward before the five persons emerged with the highest votes.
Abubakar Briamah, who pulled 56 votes is the chairman of the IMC. The membership includes Martin Owusu Asare and Abdul Aziz Mohammed, who pulled 50 votes each.
The rest are Linford Asamoah who had 46 votes while J.K. Boateng pulled 28 votes.
The IMC were sworn into office by Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, who chaired the meeting which was attended by some Ex.Co members and the acting General Secretary, Emmanuel Gyimah.
The IMC which will work in consultation with Executive Committee of the GFA have been given a three-month period to draw up a programme for the election of substantive executives.
Also, the new IMC is to prepare a schedule for the commencement of the various football leagues in the region and approval of accounts.
A protracted legal stand-off had held up the running of football in the Eastern Region for a while now.
