The Food and Beverage Manufactures of Ghana (FABAG) have warned they may be compelled to relocate their operations to other countries if action is not taken to halt the large scale smuggling of rice into the country.
The Food and Beverage Manufacturers say their businesses are being crippled by the activities of the smugglers.
After a careful study of the phenomenon, FABAG has identified that the major brand of rice smuggled into the country is the Uncle Sam brand.
FABAG wants immediate steps by government to at least reduce the illegality.
Spokesperson of FABAG, John Awuni addressed a news conference on Thursday to drive home their demand.
