A 47th minute goal by Jude Attoh of Databank Asset Management earned his side the magnificent trophy and GHc500 cash at stake in a challenge cup match against Joy 99.7FM.
The first edition of the Ken Ofori-Atta Investment Cup match played at the FC Nania Park at Legon on Republic Day, was largely a ding-dong affair that saw the youthful Databank players slightly dominating play.
The game has been instituted as an annual encounter to strengthen cordial ties between the two corporate institutions.
Both sides made several substitutions, and indeed at a stage, Joy FM had virtually replaced every player on the field except enterprising goalkeeper Gabriel (Gizo) Appiah who stood between Databank and a goal haul, and skipper Ernest Koranteng, who flatly refused his team manager, Tettey Watson’s orders to be substituted.
And as the game headed for its final minutes, match officials had to stop the game briefly after observing the Joy team were playing 12 men instead of the stipulated 11.
