A former District Chief Executive in the previous NPP government Mr Yaw Yiadom Boakye has been arrested for ‘insulting’ Baba Jamal.
Mr Boakye is reported to have told the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister that he (Baba Jamal) was speaking from ignorance, in reference to a comment made by Baba Jamal.
The Deputy General Secretary of the NDC who is also the Parliamentary candidate in the Tuesday re-run in Akwatia was infuriated with Mr Yiadom Boakye’s comments so he filed a complaint with the police who picked up the former DCE.
Mr Yiadom Boakye currently is on bail.
Two other people suspected to be supporters of the NPP have been arrested for allegedly attacking their NDC counterparts.
Akwatia is currently under curfew as a result of insecurity in the run-up to parliamentary re-run elections in six polling stations in the constituency.
