Former WWE and WWE NXT Women’s champion, Bayley wants to return to school to pursue a childhood dream she abandoned.
Bayley known privately as Pamela Rose Martinez, fell in love with the sport of wrestling at age 11 and attended shows in her home state of California since childhood.
She turned her passion into a career and became a professional wrestler for the past 10 years.
She was one of four big WWE stars who recently interacted with Joy Sports during a special programme, put together by WWE South Africa in collaboration with Super Sport, Multichoice Africa.
During the media interaction at the Sandton Sun Hotel in Johannesburg, Bayley said the decision to go into wrestling coupled with the demands of the sport made her sacrifice her education.
“I devoted my time to wrestling and honestly kind of took my mind away from everything including school. I didn’t finish all my classes and just focused on training and work. I seriously want to finish school,” she told Joy Sports.
According to Bayley, she sees education as a key component of developing oneself.
“It is a very important thing for me. I was studying psychology and want to specialize in an area that can make me a counselor for middle schools. “
Bayley also revealed to Joy Sports her motivation to specialize in guidance and counseling in the divorce. Her parents divorced at an early age.
“The counseling worked out well for me as a child and at that point, I thought it would be a good area to go into. The WWE has special classes and stuff to help us so I will take advantage of it. One cannot be lazy you know.”
She started off her journey in the ring in 2008 under the name Davina Rose and eventually adopted the name Bayley in 2013 when she debuted in the WWE.

Between 2015 and 2016 the California-born sports entertainer rose above all the challenges to defeat Sasha Banks to win the NXT Women's Championship for the first time in her career.
The next major silverware was between 2016 and 2017 when she won the WWE Raw Women’s championship. Bayley defeated Flair with assistance from Sasha Banks after an initial failed attempt.
Meanwhile, Bayley lost her match in the special WWE South Africa live Event at the Dome in Johannesburg.
The event which attracted about 20,000 fans was the climax of the chain of events put together by WWE South Africa and Super Sport.
