Four victims of the June 3 flood and fire disaster have been laid to rest at Beposo in the Ashanti region.
Thousands of mourners joined bereaved families earlier today for the burial of the four - all men.
According to Nhyira FM’s Nana Boateng who was at the funeral, the bodies of Kwesi Duku, 42, Joseph Kojo Boakye, 26, Kweku Tawiah, 33 and Augustine Boamah 26 who were all selling carpets in Accra were conveyed to Beposo in the early hours of Saturday.
They were buried at the public cemetery.
However, the fifth person Kennedy Agyeman, 25 whose body was badly disfigured could not be conveyed to Beposo. This is according o his sister Janet Donkor.
The Regional Minister, Peter Anarfi Mensah led an official delegation to the funeral.
He donated Ȼ10,000 to each of the four deceased families.
He said government was not aware of the fifth person but advised that his family should contact the Member of Parliament for the Nsuta Kwamang Beposo constituency for the necessary action to be taken.
On behalf of the family members, Opanin Yaw Abebrese thanked the president for his sympathy and donation to the family.
He said what happened really saddened the family and prayed that nothing of that nature will happen again.
He assured that the monies donated by the president to the families will be invested and used to cater for the wives and children of the deceased.
