Fresh violence has erupted in the Bawku municipality in the Upper East Region.
There were exchanges of gun fire in the early hours of Wednesday, February 13, 2008 between angry youth in the area.
The cause of the latest clash is unknown but the Kusasi youth claim they were attacked by the Mamprusi youth last night at the Sabongari mosque.
Bawku is currently under a dawn to dusk curfew following violence clashes between Mamprusis and Kusasis over an age old chieftaincy dispute between the two ethnic groups.
Lives and property have been lost in the conflict. Government subsequently imposed a duck to dawn curfew on the area.
Speaking to Joy News, the Bawku Divisional Commander of the Police Service PeterKing Jinase said policemen have been dispatched to the troubled area to maintain peace and security and to keep the warring factions at bay.
