Starlets coach Frimpong Manso has left with an 18-man team for the crucial first round qualifying for the African U-17 Championship against Zambia.
Manso is confident of success having worked with his team for two months.
The Black Starlets play Zambia in the first leg on the weekend of August 27-29.
Ghana’s team has already experienced international football after hosting Rwanda in a friendly in Accra and Frimpong Manso believes it has served his side well.
“I was happy with the performance during our friendly against Rwanda. But that was a home game for us. We are playing away against Zambia and that would be difficult. This is a young squad so nerves might set in but we hope to deal with it,” the Ghana coach told www.ghanafa.org.
“A good result against Zambia is what we are aiming for. The Starlets showed their free-scoring ability during the game against Rwanda and I want to see them take their chances.”
The 2011 African Under-17 championship will be hosted by Rwanda.
