The Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) is staging the 2013 Individual Championship from Monday, 17th -22nd June, 2013 at the Bridge Boxing Gym, Roman Ridge Accra.
The event will feature boxers from the various gyms across the country and also the security services.
The competition would see both male and female boxers battling to emerge champions in their various weight categories.
This competition is to discover talents and to also help the technical team scout for more boxers into the national team (Black Bombers) as the Federation in on the quest to form a formidable team for the 2014 Commonwealth games.
General Secretary of the GABF, Gabriel Peters is excited about the project and is looking forward to an event that might go a long way to unearth a lot more boxers for both the professional and amateur ranks.
“A tournament of this magnitude is not organized as often as we may want as an association for obvious reasons. We are delighted by the ingenuity of our President, Ambassador Ray Quarcoo who is availing the facility for an event of this magnitude.
We are just a few months from the African Championship in Mauritius and just over a year for the Olympics games so a tournament like this could not have come at a more appropriate time than this.”
The Federation wishes to invite the general public and all boxing enthusiasts to come witness an explosive period of Boxing.
