The Tema Community “1” Police have arrested a 17-year-old gay who was soliciting for clients among a group of female prostitutes.
The minor, who was dressed in a miniskirt and a tight fitting blouse, had stuffed his chest with folded rags to look like female breasts.
Reports say he was holding a ladies’ handbag that matched a pair of shoes. His ladies' bag contained women's make up kit and condoms.
Chief Superintendent, Victor Amedeka, Acting Commander of the Community “1” Police, told journalists that at about 0200 hours on Thursday June 20, the teenager was brought to the Police Station by a group of people who had seized him in Community 7, in Tema.
The residents, according to reports became suspicious of the boy’s sex even though he was in the company of some female prostitutes. They later confronted him and found he was indeed a male.
The teenage gay upon interrogation said he lived in Atonsu in the Ashanti Region, but had come to Tema about a week ago, with some friends.
He later confessed that he was gay and was soliciting for men. He also explained that he dressed like a woman because his friends told him a public showing of his gay activities would get him arrested by the Police.
The boy said he charges his clients between GH¢25 and GH¢100 for his services, adding that he has been a gay prostitute since age 15. Chief Supt. Amedeka said the case was being investigated further.
