Mr. Victor Apeah, Acting Brong-Ahafo Regional Director of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, has assured political parties of fair and equal coverage in the region.
He said this would create an opportunity for listeners and the public to understand and assess the policies and programmes of the political parties before exercising their franchise in the December polls.
Mr. Apeah said this at a meeting with regional executives of political parties in Sunyani.
Representatives of the New Patriotic Party, National Democratic Congress, Convention People’s Party, Democratic People’s Party, People’s National Convention, Democratic Freedom Party, United Renaissance Party and National Commission on Civic Education attended the meeting.
Mr. Apeah said coverage would be free of charge “except those who want to be hosted on breakfast shows who would be asked to buy 15 minutes air-time at the cost of GHC 400 with 10 percent discount”.
“There would be a ballot to determine the sequence in which parties would be hosted,” Mr. Apeah said and urged the political parties to co-operate with the corporation and abide by the rules and regulations.
Mr. Charles Kofi Nkrumah, Regional Director of NCCE, said the move taken by the corporation would help promote cordial relationship between the parties and appealed to the political parties to avoid practices that could mar the elections.
