The residents of Gbi Godenu and some other communities in Hohoe now have relief as their Member of Parliament, John Peter Amewu and Municipal Chief Executive, Daniel Noble Awume, have constructed a number of toilet facilities for them in order to curb open defecation in the municipality.
According to the residents, open defecation does not only affect their physical health but also impacts their dignity and quality of life, and so are excited that they can finally have places of convenience especially for those who may not have them in their homes
The residents hope that more communities are able to benefit from the benevolent MP and the Hohoe Assembly to help in the eradication of open defecation in their communities.
The residents expressed their gratitude to the MP, John Peter Amewu for his unwavering commitment and effort to improve their lives, and also asked that more of such facilities to be constructed in other communities as well.

The MCE for Hohoe, Daniel Noble Awume, noted that it was necessary to have toilet facilities in the various communities in need of them to help them stay open defecation free communities and free from diseases.
Mr Noble Awume emphasized the need for inclusivity, ensuring that these facilities catered to the different age groups, physical abilities, and cultural sensitivities of the community members and highlighting the urgent need to curb open defecation and potential long term benefits for the communities.
Mr Awume urged the community members of Gbi Godenu and others to adopt the culture of maintenance, teaching the community about the health risks associated with open defecation and how simple measures like handwashing could prevent diseases.
“I hope that with toilet facilities, the incidence of open defecation will rapidly decline in the communities,” Mr Daniel Noble Awume said.
