Ghana is to benefit from a 5-million-euro grant from the German Development Service over the next two years.
These funds will be directed to agriculture and food security, local governance and sustainable economic development in the country.
The package represents a 1-million-euro increase over what the country received last year from the agency.
Officials say 10 percent of the funds will be directed to environmentally-friendly programs.
Director-General of the German Development Service, Dr. Jurgen Wilhelm said the package was a reaction to a request from government for genuine courses.
“This is to say we are not identifying the sectors by ourselves. We are only reacting to demands or requests from governments, responsible personalities or institutions…,” he said.
He said the German government will also scale up its development assistance package to Ghana from the current 53 million euros.
