The Ghana FA has stated they will investigate claims by former international Mohammed Gargo that certain unscrupulous people demanded bribe from him in return for a place in the 2006 World Cup squad.
Gargo claimed he and two of his colleagues would have played for Ghana at the 2006 World Cup, if they had not resisted attempts by the unnamed officials to engage in bribery.
According to the Ex Udinese player, those persons at the Ghana FA who wanted did not have any influence in the technical decisions.
The Ghana FA in their attempt to eradicate this perception has vowed to investigate and bring down those impersonators at the FA.
"Those three players (Mohammed Gargo, Augustine Arhinful and Sam Johnson) were not in the purview of the Black Stars squad by 2006, most of them had not even play for the Black stars since Coach Dosenna left many years ago so it will be very surprising that the generation of the Stephen Appiah and the rest will have people like Gargo, Arhinful and Sam Johnson," said GFA Spokesperson Ibrahim Saani Daara
"It is important that Gargo said those people are not people who matter within the federation but if anybody approaches you claiming that he is representing the Ghana FA, a coach or whoever it is promptly report that person to the federation or even the police because the person is a corrupt individual.
"These are one of the things that some people go around claiming to be representatives of the GFA on many matters when they are not, we are very serious about it
"We also want to ask Gargo that we are interested in this matter so if he will be able to reveal to us the identity of the person, we assure him that action will be taken because the Ghana FA doesn’t double in this"
