Ghana pipped South Africa 5:3 on penalties to pick football gold at the 2011 All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique.
Full time scores in the finals stood at one-all, while 30 minutes extra time failed to produce any goals.
The South Africans who had beaten the Meteors one-nil in their opening game, once again shot into the lead late in the game through Eugene Riann before the Ghanaians fetched an injury time equalizer courtesy a spot-kick converted by striker Mahatma Otoo.
Ghana subsequently converted four penalties through Mahatma Otoo, goalkeeper Daniel Adjei, Gilbert Fiamenyo and Ahmed Adams while the South Africans converted only two of their four kicks.
