There set to be an “Obama boom” in the country in the months and years to come as women vow to name their children after the Obamas.
Both expectant and free mothers who spoke to Joy News on the back of the historic visit of the first family of the United States say their children will certainly bear names of the Obamas.
Mothers, who were on admission at the La General Hospital when Mr Barack Obama, his wife, Michelle and children Sasha and Malia visited the hospital, were happy they shook hands with the US President.
They told Joy News the feeling was great to shake hands with the visitors.
“I felt very great and happy to see Obama and shake hands with (him) and his wife Michelle. Actually I want a baby girl, but if I give birth to a boy I will name him Obama Barack Adum Sowah,” one lady told Joy News.
“If the Lord permits and I give birth, I will name my child either Obama or Michelle,” yet another lady said.
Meanwhile, commentators are still finding answers to some of the mishaps that occurred during the visit of the US President and his family to Ghana.
Not only was video footage of the visit blurred, but audio was just as bad.
Communications Minister, Haruna Iddrisu said officials at the Ghana Broadcasting Company and even the government owe Ghanaians an explanation.
“There was some kind unnecessary scramble, this is a protocol issue that somebody must explain. We saw people dipping their hands into their pockets in search of cameras. I think we got it wrong,” he said.
