The young Ghanaian baseball player Daniel Atiemo, aka 'Iron' of Tema who was invited to this Spring’s training in the USA has excelled.
He impressed coaches and players alike with his skills. As a result he has been sponsored to Italy for a further international training programme for one month.
Speaking to myjoyonline, the President of the Ghana Baseball and Softball Association (GHABSA), Rev. Albert Ocran said the performance of Daniel is an encouraging sign for the future of the game in Ghana.
He hopes Daniel’s commitment to the game and his performance in Italy, will raise the profile of the game and the image of the country as a baseball playing nation and attract many more young people and sponsors to the game.
He disclosed also that a Japanese organisation, Friends of Baseball in Africa is sponsoring the senior national baseball team to prepare for the Olympics Zonal qualifiers to be played in Nigeria soon.
