Ghanaians have been urged to exhibit a high sense of maturity next year, being an election period to sustain the peace and stability of the nation to entrench the country's democratic dispensation.
The call was made by Mr. Jonathan Nii Tackie Komme, Member of Parliament (MP) for Odododiodoo at a get together he organised for members of the Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to mark this year's Christmas and New Year.
He said that with the selection of the Presidential Candidates of the various political parties the stage was now set for the campaigning for the 2008 general election.
Mr. Nii Tackie Komme called on members of the party to be "battle ready" to work for the victory of the NDC and its Presidential Candidate, Professor John Evans Atta Mills.
He asked them to take stock of their contribution to the party and pledge to work relentlessly for the success of the NDC to form the next government to remedy the suffering of the people as a result of the mismanagement of Ghana's economy by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The MP commended the members of the party for the unity and cohesion they displayed in the by-election in the area in 2005 and appealed to them to continue with the same spirit to ensure a resounding defeat of the NPP for the NDC to form the next government.
He wished them a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
The Constituency Chairman, Mr Daniel Nii Okai Okai asked them to continue with their house-to-house campaign to win more supporters for the NDC.
He appealed to them to support the executive to draw strategies and plans and to unite now, more than ever to retain the seat and for Prof. Atta Mills to win the 2008 elections to form the next government.
He asked the members to work hard for the revival of the various branches since elections were won from the polling stations.
