The Local Government Ministry has tasked its environmental officers to study the report of a committee and make recommendations on how to improve sanitation situation in the country.
The committee was put together to investigate the sanitation crisis that has rocked most parts of the cities across the country.
The committee members who were drawn from the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies identified the challenges in each assembly and proposed ways of tackling them.
Their report is expected to help government find a lasting solution to the menace.
Although the Local Government Ministry is unable to tell when the Environmental Directorate will conclude its work, Deputy Minister, Emmanuel Agyekum told Joy News an action plan will be rolled out soon to deal with the waste management problem.
"Once we know the problem on the ground which the honorable minister has asked for now we can actually tackle the real issues on the various assemblies.
"Those who are not up to the task the minister will ask them to do the right thing.
"Where we need infrastructure, government will look at it and see how best we can deal with that," he promised.
He said the minister will tackle the issue with all the seriousness it deserves.
