This weekend, the Ghana Premier League enters week 7 with matches to be played in designated venues across the country.

After last weekend’s super clash, Asante Kotoko will host Liberty Professionals while Hearts of Oak travel to Dawu to face Dreams FC.

Elsewhere, AshantiGold welcome Ebusua Dwarfs to the Len Clay Stadium as league leaders Berekum Chelsea make a trip to battle Bechem United.

The biggest match of matchday 7 will be on Sunday where Aduana Stars will lock horns with Medeama in a clash between two of the current top three teams.

Inter Allies v King Faisal – Accra

Inter Allies have been on a rough patch this campaign. They have won just one game so far this season and totalled four points ahead of matchday seven (W1 D1 L4).

Tony Lokko’s men have also averaged a goal per game this campaign (6) and conceded twice that number (12), the joint-worst conceded by a top-flight side this season.

They are currently in 16th place as a result. Inter Allies will aim to grab win number two as they await the arrival of King Faisal at the Accra Sports Stadium.

King Faisal have also been struggling this season. The Kumasi-based outfit are the only side yet to earn a victory (3D 3L).

They have been poor defensively, conceding the third-highest number of goals in the league (11). They, however, have the joint highest tally for goals scored among the bottom half (6).

King Faisal will travel to the capital hoping for their first victory.

Friday’s meeting will be the first in six years. In the last two meetings, both sides have recorded 1-0 wins each and were all home victories.

Prediction: Inter Allies 1-0 King Faisal

King Faisal have been unconvincing away from home this season. Inter Allies should take this one.

Karela United v Legon Cities FC – Tarkwa

Karela United will be seeking a return to winning ways when they host Legon Cities FC at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa.

The Ayinase based outfit have earned just one victory and have amassed five points after six games (W1 D2 L3).

They are currently lacking in sharpness going forward after scoring four goals during this period (0.66 goals per game).

Karela have also been poor at the back, conceding eight goals (1.33 goals per game).

Legon Cities, on the other hand, had a poor start to the season but are slowly building momentum.

The Royals earned their first victory of the season in the previous matchday against Bechem United.

Goran Barjaktarevic’s charges have however scored four goals in six outings and need improvement in that area.

Karela recorded a 1-0 away victory over Legon Cities (formerly Wa All Stars) in their last and only meeting.

Prediction: Karela United 1-2 Legon Cities

Karela have the home advantage but their poor form provides an opportunity for Legon Cities to capitalize.

Elmina Sharks v Eleven Wonders – Elmina

Elmina Sharks secured their fourth draw of the season in a 1-1 draw against King Faisal last weekend but do not have time to brood over that with an important home match against Eleven Wonders slated for Saturday.

Sharks are 10th with 7 points having won one, drawn four and lost just one. They have scored 6 goals and have conceded one more signalling a need for a refinement offensively and defensively. They will be under pressure from fans to take advantage of home court and earn maximum points.

Eleven Wonders, after a disastrous start, appear to have settled and have collected six points in their last three games. They will head into the match feeling confident of causing an upset.

Prediction: Elmina Sharks 1-0 Eleven Wonders

Elmina Sharks haven’t been convincing at home but the poor away form of Eleven Wonders leaves the hosts with the chance of a triumph.

Great Olympics v WAFA – Accra

Great Olympics couldn’t have asked for a better time to face WAFA as they are currently on the rise after a poor start to the campaign.

The Oly Dade boys are unbeaten in their last three games. This is after failing to win their first three games.

Prince Koffie’s side have conceded a single goal during their uprising and scored four, a huge turnaround from their first three games where they scored none and conceded five.

They have moved up to 11th place as a result.

For WAFA, whom many tipped as title contenders, they have been disappointing so far this season. They have earned 9 points in six matches but have failed to win their last four games (2W 3D 1L).

The last two meetings ended in a goalless draw.

Prediction: Great Olympics 1-0 WAFA

Great Olympics have been in fine form recently and should take this one.

Aduana Stars v Medeama – Dormaa

The battle-line is drawn between the second and the third-placed teams in the league when Aduana Stars and Medeama SC square up at the Nana Agyemang Badu I park in a crucial tie on Sunday.

Aduana Stars have been in fine form since the start of the campaign. The Ogya boys have earned 13 points from a possible 18 and boast of the best attack with 10 goals scored, at least one more than anyone else.

Yahaya Mohammed has been the star of the show. He leads the goal-scoring charts with 6 goals. They have a solid defensive unit as well, conceding just three goals in six games (0.5 goals per game).

Medeama have also been excellent so far this season. The Mauve and Yellows have the same points as Aduana and are also a side with a formidable attack, having scored 9 goals (the second highest in the competition).

Defensively, Medeama have been resolute, conceding just 3 goals.

Medeama are unbeaten against Aduana Stars in the last five meetings. (W2 D3)

Prediction: Aduana Stars 1-0 Medeama

Aduana have been comfortable at home this season and should grab their first win over Medeama since 2017.

AshantiGold v Ebusua Dwarfs – Obuasi

AshantiGold must aim to end their three games winless run with an emphatic home victory when they welcome the Ebusua Dwarfs to the Len Clay Stadium.

The Miners have lost two and drawn one of their last three games coming into this clash but are still frim favourites.

Ebusua Dwarfs won their first game of the season last Monday, beating Dreams FC 2-0 after five straight defeats. They stand little chance of winning on Sunday.

Surprisingly, Dwarfs have superior to AshantiGold on a head-to-head basis, winning two and losing one in their last five meetings (2W 2D 1L).

Prediction: AshantiGold 2-0 Ebusua Dwarfs

After facing Berekum Chelsea and Medeama in consecutive matches, AshantiGold now have a weaker opposition to beat and should take the three points.

Bechem United v Berekum Chelsea – Bechem

League leaders Berekum Chelsea make the trip to Bechem hoping to protect their unbeaten record. The Blues remain the only side yet to taste defeat this season and are firm favourites to overcome their regional neighbours.

Bechem United though poses a threat of a wildcard. The Hunters have earned 10 points so far and are currently ranked 7th.

The two teams are balanced on the head-to-head bracket. Two wins each in five games.

Prediction: Bechem United 1-1 Berekum Chelsea

Bechem United have been strong at home ground and Berekum Chelsea have been impressive away from home. The two teams should share the spoils in this one.

Dreams FC v Hearts of Oak – Dawu

Hearts of Oak will hope to recover from the Super Clash defeat to Asante Kotoko when they face Dreams FC at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.

The Phobians conceded a late penalty to lose 2-1 against their arch-rivals at home. Though, they lost, fans were left pleased with their performance. They would hope to improve upon it on Sunday.

Dreams were disappointing in the last matchday as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Ebusua Dwarfs in Cape Coast.

The defeat denied them entry into top four but they have the chance this weekend to redeem themselves. They will be motivated to go all out for maximum points as a result of their impressive home form. They have picked two wins and a draw in three matches at home.

In their last four competitive meetings, Hearts of Oak have managed three victories and lost once. Only four goals have been produced by the two teams combined during that period.

Prediction: Dreams 1-1 Hearts of Oak

It is difficult to separate both teams. Hearts have been unbeaten in their last two away matches and Dreams have been unbeaten at home. The two teams should share the spoils.

Asante Kotoko v Liberty Professionals – Kumasi

Asante Kotoko must be well-motivated for maximum points when they welcome Liberty Professionals to the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The Porcupine Warriors are experiencing a quick upturn in fortunes. After losing consecutively to Berekum Chelsea and Medeama, the Porcupine Warriors have gone on to claim two wins on the bounce, beating arch-rivals Hearts of Oak along the way.

Maxwell Konadu’s side have 12 points after six matches (W4 L2) and are now in 4th place.

In the six games played in the league so far, Liberty Professionals have lost once but have only earned nine points so far (2W 3D 1L), leaving them in 9th place.

The Dansoman-based side have not been lacking in the goal-scoring department, finding the net on eight occasions. They, however, have to work harder defensively after shipping in seven goals.

Kotoko have been largely dominant on head-to-head winning three and losing one in their last five meetings (W3 D1 L1). Liberty have, however, kept Kotoko at bay in their last two meetings.

This match will be played behind closed doors as Kotoko serve a three-match ban for hooliganism.

Prediction: Asante Kotoko 1-0 Liberty Professionals

The Porcupine Warriors are on high confidence and should take this one on their stride.
